Lost Coin administrative meeting Notes from December 22,	2006

Friends,

Here are belated notes from our most recent meeting. If you have any ideas
or want to respond to questions raised at the meeting, besides posting to
the whole list you're also welcome to email me directly (tawnijo at gmail.com)
and I can compile people's suggestions and send them out.

We met at Daniel's, and Judith, Patricia, Julie, Daniel, and I were there.

*Group or school?*

We talked about what we'd like to see happen with our group in the
future--would we keep it mostly as it is (a group), or expand it to be a
true school? We were all excited about the idea of expanding to a "school,"
and this is Daniel's vision, too. We talked about many possibilities:
hosting classes on different topics, on more of a drop-in basis for people
who are interested but not part of the core group; having our own meeting
space; doing work projects; and many other things. One possibility we
discussed was building a meeting house in the back part of Daniel's back
yard, which is large enough to accommodate it.

*New Groups and Social Events*

We also decided to form two new administrative groups. First, a "creative
group" that Judy and I will lead, but will also recruit people as they're
interested (let us know!). We'll focus on building the website
(content-wise--we still need Sterling's and others' technical know-how), our
idea for a book, and other projects as they arise. Second, a "development"
group that will focus on looking for a dedicated space, marketing, etc.
This group is open, as far as my notes reflect--so if you'd like to be
involved, just let us know. These two groups are added to our Special
Events "group," which so far is Robyn.

We also talked about hosting a social event in February, ideally the evening
of Friday the 16th, at Daniel's house. We envision sitting as a group and
then moving to a potluck and Armanac-swilling (I know that's misspelled)
plain ol' party. We did talk about having it be just for group members
rather than members and partners. We plan to discuss this further with the
whole group.

We also discussed how Easter is a big holiday for traditional Fourth Way
groups, and that we'd like to do something social then, too, to celebrate
together.

*Technology Question*

As Daniel has mentioned at our weekly meetings, we'd like to begin recording
at least his voice. If you have a recorder that would suit this purpose, or
any leads on one, please let us know. We plan to use those recordings as
the germ of a book or possibly several books (one or more for publication,
one or more for members' use), and have a bunch of ideas about what we could
do on those fronts. Again, all ideas are welcomed.

*Lost Coin Logo*

Daniel would like to develop a logo for the group, and we talked about
looking at photos of coins on the internet and in library books. He's
leaning towards an old, antique-y coin, with a hole and therefore probably
Chinese in origin, and maybe with really worn-down lettering. Those of us
at the meeting will be exploring some options--but anyone else who would
like to, please do!

*Buddy System*

We also discussed the buddy system that was raised at one of our recent
meetings--having a partner to touch base with late in the week as a reminder
to keep doing the work and to talk about our efforts during the week. (I'm
personally enamored with the simple but brilliant suggestion of just calling
your partner and shouting "Wake Up!") As Daniel explained last night, we
settled on having a partners who would switch each month--that way we'll all
get to know each other on a deeper basis, but still have a few weeks with
one particular person to work with and get to know them.

That's about it. Again, if you have any ideas to share, bring 'em on! I
hope all of you and your loved ones have a happy and wonderful New Year.
